Hyper Consumption is a speculative design that examines the experience of
high street shopping, projecting how Hampton Street, Hampton a suburban
Melbourne shopping strip can be influenced by the progression of advertising and
greenwashing.
Themes that are fundamental to the understanding of this design revolve around
the ideas of irony and hypocrisy, especially present in Plant a Tree, and Apple
Yard & Boutique designs. The forms of greenwashing have become more nuanced, and well-hidden as part of an integrated system of consumption.
